Real Estate Future Proof Webinar

1.10.20

We joined more than 1500 Real Estate professional from around the world for Real Estate Futureproof Global webinar which had the main focus of the steps and importance in becoming a better built environment.

One particular segment focussed on the Future of Smart Buildings led by Elizabeth Nelson (co-founder of Smart Building Certification) who is an expert in supporting building owners in taking the right steps forwards and acknowledging buildings who have the IT infrastructure in place to measure a building and its behaviour.

Elizabeth was joined by experts on the topic, Duncan Binger (Building Minds), Remo Di Fronzo (Thoughtwire), Robert Heinecke (Breeze Technologies) and Gilles Ghyssart (Spacewell) to discuss the future of Smart Buildings and the importance behind them.

Smart buildings improve efficiency, reduce consumption and reduce energy costs which given the current climate and the adaptions being made to offices and everyday lives it is more important than ever for Real Estate owners to think smarter and implement the technology needed.

They discussed the importance of ultimately creating actionable and meaningful outcomes. The standards as to what is a smart building needs to be set but at the same time needs to be interchangeable and flexible to be able to accommodate to changes.

As we have all experienced from the recent pandemic, changes are being made to the workplace, co-living spaces and any communal infrastructure.

We are in a phase where we are under populating our office space and we need to think of creative ways to do so and design and create smart buildings which allow better use of our space and to also keep track of our space.

What can often be forgotten is that ultimately our buildings are designed for people- ‘user experience’ needs to now more so than ever be at the forefront of Real Estate owners’ minds.

Smart buildings allow us to have real-time feedback from people, energy consumption and various systems within buildings which can ultimately greater their efficiency, lower consumption and all together create healthier and smarter spaces.
